Different raw material: PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) is a polymer made of raw material CaF2 which came out from fluorite mine. But nanofiber filter material normally uses PET and PAN or other polymers which produced from petroleum by product.
Different manufacturing process: Expand PTFE (ePTFE) membrane fabric for air filtration formed by bidirectional expanding and stretching process and became a fragile membrane with only 3-10μm thickness. It shall be laminated with nonwoven carriers to keep structure stability. Nanofiber fabric normally formed by electrospinning technology and sprayed on nonwoven carriers.
Different fiber structure and filtration behavior: Because of special material characteristic, PTFE membrane mostly barred airborne particles on surface of filter fabric, and nanofiber captured those particles between fibers. So that dust hold capacity of ptfe membrane fabric is relatively weaker than nanofiber media. However, it's quite easier to be cleaned for PTFE media.
